Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimator will be responsible for the generation of accurate and timely cost estimates for assigned projects.
What You'll Do Here:
Analyzes documents, drawings, specifications, addenda, and quotations in preparation for pricing.
Performs any estimate-related oral and/or written communications with clients.
Performs quantity take-off within the design phase and from construction drawings where applicable.
Coordinates / obtains pricing from Subcontractors and incorporates into estimate.
Collaborates with Procurement to obtain pricing from Suppliers and incorporates into estimate.
Collaborates effectively with Operations, PMO, Finance and Owners staff as appropriate, driving project success and learning.
Formulates all costs for price modelling, pricing and tender submissions – labour, equipment, material, rentals, and subcontracts.
Accountable for accuracy and completeness of submissions.
Conducts Bid Closing and Bid Handover meetings, and job set‑ups as required.
Prepares recommendations for award of Subcontracts.
Ensures the distribution of documentation appropriately upon award.
Tracks, forecasts, and reports on the financial and operational performance of selected projects and provides data to support forecasts.
Maintains files and correspondence on active and completed projects.
Provides technical support to field staff as appropriate.
Ensures Post Bid / Post Project Analysis completion and ensures that associated learnings are captured, and that appropriate internal communication takes place.
Shared accountability for the overall financial performance of awarded projects.
Assists with Prequalification, RFQ and RFI submissions as required.
Incorporates / complies with Aecon’s risk management policies and procedures.
Drives positive relationships with Clients, Consultants, Subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
Frequent contact with the public (Job site visits, Clients, Consultants, Sub trades).
Develops maintains positive relations with Operations, Owners, Consultants and Sub trades.
Ability to carry drawing and diaries, use stairs, climb rough terrain when visiting site.
Travel required to and from owner offices, work sites and for pre-tender site review.
Out of town/overnight travel required from time to time as required.

What You Bring to the Team:
Diploma / Degree / Trade Certification – Electrical.
Understanding of affiliated electrical, utilities systems and associated civil works an asset.
Minimum 5 years estimating experience – electrical / hydro an asset.
Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and contract specifications.
Engineering experience or equivalent technical knowledge in the renewable energy industry an asset.
Experience and knowledge in product selection and implementation an asset.
Knowledge of contract language / Terms and Conditions / Surety etc.
Knowledge of job cost fundamentals and accounting / reporting an asset.
Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
Strong computer skills – MS Excel / Word / MS Outlook, MS Teams.
Experience with estimating software.
Strong communication skills – oral and written.
Ability to work accurately, effectively under pressure. Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
Self motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision or with others as a team.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
Professional designation an asset (P.Eng., C.E.T., CTech).

The expected pay range for this role is $80,000 - $110,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
