OverviewReporting to the Practice Leader – Ontario, within the Real Estate Management Services (REMS) Group, the Construction Project Manager plays a critical role in overseeing leasing, tenant fit‑out and capital expenditure (Cap Ex) construction projects across a diverse commercial asset portfolio. This role requires both independent initiative and collaborative execution, working closely with engineers, architects, contractors and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and on budget.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail‑oriented professional with strong project management capabilities, technical acumen and a commitment to safety and compliance. Key responsibilities include project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, stakeholder communication and contractor oversight.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with internal teams, architects, engineers, consultants and contractors to define project scope, schedule and budget on behalf of our clients.
- Lead and manage construction projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with approved schedules, specifications and budgets.
- Oversee all aspects of project administration including cost control, schedule tracking and change order management.
- Manage and track Contemplated Change Notices (CCNs) and Change Orders (COs), with a focus on risk mitigation and resolution, ensuring client approvals are secured prior to execution.
- Ensure sustainability and ESG considerations are integrated into project execution where applicable.
- Coordinate tenant improvement work and ensure timely delivery for occupancy.
- Review and validate project drawings and specifications for code compliance and compatibility with existing infrastructure; identify and communicate discrepancies or cost‑saving alternatives.
- Analyze bid packages and provide detailed cost vs. budget summaries.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports and monthly budget analyses to internal teams and clients.
- Facilitate stakeholder communication through consistent updates and meeting documentation, including construction meeting minutes.
