Senior Project Coordinator - Roads and Utilities is a role that reports to the Project Manager. The Senior Project Coordinator will work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents and will be responsible for coordination of project requirements including but not limited to safety, quality, administration, scheduling, cost controls, and client/sub‑contractor/craft communication and management. Experience supporting projects involving roads and utilities is highly preferred.

What

You Will Be Working On
  • Assist with price change orders, track requests for information, review and coordinate approvals of shop drawings, and coordinate information provided and required by sub‑trades and suppliers.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and design change requests (DCRs).
  • Prepare and update the project budget, schedule, and cost report during construction under the direction of the Project Manager.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining the weekly master project schedule and ensure Superintendent look‑aheads are aligned.
  • Monitor productivity rates and subcontractor planned versus actuals in the schedule.
  • Coordinate construction activities for roadworks, underground utilities, drainage systems, and related infrastructure with site supervision and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with municipalities, utility companies, consultants, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify, address and resolve issues and problems as, or before, they occur.
  • Support management of subcontracts including monitoring notification periods and value increases.
  • Assist in managing payments, settling disputes if they arise, and subcontractor performance evaluations.
  • Participate in subcontractor and project meetings; prepare meeting minutes, action items, and follow‑up reports.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with client(s), consultant(s), sub‑trades and suppliers.
  • Provide assistance to the Project Manager in ensuring project health, safety and environmental standards meet legislated requirements and company policy.
  • Ensure Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and work plans are prepared and reviewed prior to the commencement of all tasks and scopes.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
  • Participate in inspections, testing, and project turnover activities.
What We Are Looking For
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or construction management.
  • Eligible for, or have attained, E.I.T., P. Eng., CET, or PQS designations.
  • 5-7 years’ “hands‑on” experience in the capacity of project coordinator supplemented by other aspects of construction management including cost estimating, direct project management of large commercial, civil and/or institutional construction projects.
  • Experience in any of the following disciplines is highly preferred: trackwork or station construction, or architectural cladding.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating track systems, station construction, architectural finishes, and cladding installations.
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem‑solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in a challenging, fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
