Job Description

The INTREPID Lab is a hub for research and health services programming on nicotine addiction. Our goal is to synthesize and discover new knowledge in the treatment of nicotine addiction, validate technology-mediated methods and processes for delivering treatment and use these methods to scale up research discoveries to health services programs through our network of over 300 primary- and community-care partner organizations.

In meeting its objectives, the INTREPID Lab works with technology vendors, in addition to creating its own technology-based methods and protocols, for research and subsequent integration into health services programs.

We are currently seeking one (1) casual Program Engagement Co-Facilitator to support client engagement and facilitate collaboration between INTREPID, advisors, and relevant stakeholders. Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will apply their lived and living experiences with nicotine use to enhance client-centered research and programming. They will contribute to system and service planning, education, and knowledge translation within INTREPID-wide initiatives.

The Co-Facilitator will collaborate with service providers, educators, and researchers to align project and program goals, staffing, activities, and outcomes more closely with the needs of individuals with lived or living experience.

Responsibilities
  • Engagement & Facilitation
    • Co-facilitate advisory meetings, and peer-support sessions.
    • Collaborate with clients, community organizations, and healthcare teams to integrate lived/living experiences into INTREPID Lab research and service planning.
    • Support advisor engagement activities, ensuring that diverse perspectives inform nicotine addiction research, treatment, and health service delivery.
  • Education & Resource Co-Creation
    • Assist in developing client-friendly educational content and materials (e.g., webinars, infographics, info sheets, and social media content) to promote awareness of INTREPID initiatives.
    • Support knowledge translation initiatives, ensuring research findings are accessible and actionable for clients, caregivers, and service providers.
    • Participate in community outreach efforts to enhance engagement in INTREPID research and treatment programs.
  • Research & Program Development
    • Contribute to program evaluation, data collection, focus groups, and reporting to inform service improvements in nicotine addiction care and technology-mediated interventions.
    • Assist in administrative tasks related to engagement activities as needed, including the recruitment and onboarding of advisors and research participants.
  • Successful applicants will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion; encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable CAMH policies, as well as all regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • This position is located at 1025 Queen Street West.
Qualifications
  • The successful candidate will have lived/living experience with nicotine use and a demonstrated ability to support safe and meaningful engagement. An openness to diverse perspectives on mental health, addictions, nicotine dependence, and related issues is essential.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills are required, along with professionalism, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working within a co-creation model—where power sharing, inclusion, and collaboration among diverse experts are integral to success—is an asset.
  • Experience with participatory action research, client-centered research, and/or client-oriented initiatives is desirable.
  • Successful candidates will possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • The ability to work with stakeholders of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is essential, as is an appreciation of diversity.
  • A high degree of familiarity with MS Office, e-mail and social media are required.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset.
