Senior Lighting Designer, Lighting Studio

WSP is looking for a Senior Lighting Designer to lead cutting‑edge lighting design projects across a variety of building types, including Transportation, Healthcare, Commercial, Educational, Entertainment & Recreation, Government & Cultural buildings.

What you’ll do
  • Produce creative lighting concepts from proposal to detail design stage, including plans, design details, specifications, schedules, mock‑ups, and sketch design proposals, and liaise with architects, interior designers, and equipment suppliers.
  • Attend design and site meetings, and produce technical reports.
  • Produce accurate, efficient, creative and coordinated lighting designs using internal and external sources.
  • Conduct ongoing analyses of fixture packages to identify opportunities and provide suggestions for optimal product and pricing selections.
  • Interface with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide technical solutions on the projects.
  • Keep up to date with industry developments and engineering innovations at a global scale.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with company and client quality requirements.
What you’ll bring
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Lighting Design, or Architectural Engineering.
  • 7–10 years of experience as a Professional Lighting Designer (LC or CLD).
  • Portfolio demonstrating creative and technical knowledge and skills in lighting design.
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, AGi
    32, Photoshop, and 3D software.
  • Proficiency with lighting calculations using lighting modelling software.
  • Complete understanding of Building Codes and Standards, including but not limited to Ontario Building Code (OBC), IESNA, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.
  • Capability to apply prescriptive codes, bylaws, and specification requirements where applicable.
  • Project management experience and skills to handle multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines.
