Project Manager, Products (Independent Contractor)

Yabu Pushelberg is an award-winning multidisciplinary design studio with offices in Toronto and New York. We specialize in creating thoughtful, refined design across interiors, architecture, furniture, lighting, textiles, and branding for the world’s leading luxury hospitality, retail, and residential clients.

Storytelling is the heartbeat of our work. We believe every object and environment tells a story, and our product design practice plays a central role in shaping these narratives through material exploration, sculptural form, and emotional function.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Manager for our Product Design team, you will support the design and development of new furniture and product collaborations, working directly with Italian and European manufacturing partners while coordinating communication, prototyping, and project timelines.

  • Provide on-the-ground support in Milan to strengthen relationships with Italian partners and manufacturers.
  • Coordinate prototype reviews, sample evaluations, and ongoing communication with European and international production teams.
  • Support logistics and workflow throughout all phases of product development, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and momentum across partners.
  • Plan and coordinate meeting itineraries for prototype reviews and design fairs (e.g., Salone del Mobile, 3DD).
  • Travel within Europe for prototype reviews, partner visits, and other development needs.
  • Identify new opportunities and potential collaborations by building local relationships and deepening market awareness.
  • Support the Product team in managing the yearly product development strategy.
What You’ll Bring
  • 3+ years of experience in product development, project management, or a related design field.
  • Familiarity with the product design and development process, from prototyping to production.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills, comfortable representing the studio with partners and vendors.
  • Fluency in English and Italian is essential.
  • A degree in Product Design, Interior Design, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing initiatives across partners, locations, and timelines.
  • A collaborative spirit and confidence navigating interdisciplinary workflows.
  • A global point of view and interest in material innovation, craftsmanship, and design culture.
What We Offer
  • The opportunity to contribute to product development at the highest level within a globally respected studio.
  • A collaborative, concept-driven culture that values curiosity, craft, and communication.
  • Deep engagement with European manufacturing, prototyping, and design fairs.
  • The opportunity to participate in forming future partnerships and growing our practice.
