Our client, an established multidisciplinary design firm, is seeking an Intermediate Interior Designer with a minimum of four years of post-graduate experience to join their growing team. This role is ideal for a creative, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about design, enjoys project leadership responsibilities, and is committed to mentoring junior team members. The successful candidate will contribute to all phases of hospitality, multi-unit residential, and retail projects while helping to deliver exceptional design solutions for clients.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with senior leadership to establish project scope, schedules, and deliverables.
- Develop and refine design concepts, mood boards, space plans, FF&E selections, elevations, and renderings.
- Prepare and coordinate client presentations, design packages, and project documentation.
- Assist in presenting design concepts and recommendations to clients.
- Coordinate construction documentation, including demolition plans, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, furniture plans, finish plans, elevations, and millwork details.
- Liaise with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and clients throughout all project phases.
- Review and revise drawings to ensure accuracy, design intent, and compliance with applicable building codes.
- Support contract administration activities, including site visits, deficiency reviews, supplementary instructions, and tendering assistance.
- Monitor project progress and communicate scope, schedule, or client-related issues to senior team members.
- Mentor and provide guidance to Junior Designers and Interns.
- Document meetings and maintain accurate project records.
- Bachelor of Applied Arts (BAA) or Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from a recognized college or university.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in hospitality, multi-unit residential, and/or retail interior design.
- Experience working on multiple mid-to-large-scale projects through all phases of design and construction.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign), and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of Revit preferred.
- Experience with Illustrator, Enscape, and Ambient Occlusion rendering tools considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of FF&E, furniture systems, specifications, materials, and colour application.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable Building Code requirements.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong design and presentation abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to manage priorities and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
- A proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach.
- Confidence coordinating project teams and mentoring junior staff.
- A passion for design excellence and client service.
