Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and passionate Intermediate Architectural
Designer to complement our Toronto office, where we are involved in exciting work across a range of building types, including commercial, mixed-use, retail, industrial, hospitality, public buildings, and healthcare. You will work closely with the Senior Designer and Project Manager to complete design and technical assignments. May oversee the entire design process on small or medium projects or act as a design resource for specific components of projects.
Industrial and Transit project experience is required.
- May assist with business development by contributing to proposals, attending interviews, etc.
Project Planning
- Work with Project Manager (PM) or other Project Leader (Job Captain, Design Team Leader, etc.) to create work plans, drawing units, scope of services, budgets, and staffing requirements
- In cooperation with the PM, review and monitor project scope and initiate corrective actions as required
- Assist with the Kasian design process including creation of design concepts, presentation material, and required submission documentation
- Participate in the production of successful design and contract documentation in alignment with Kasian’s standards of quality, client program, and budget needs
- Prepare outline specifications and assist in detailed project specification development
- Coordinate building and development permit submissions
- Participate in client and public presentations
- Participate in design and production meetings
- Work alongside the PM to build relationships with clients by proactively responding to program and budget requirements
- Work with supervisor and authorities having jurisdiction to interpret and conform to codes and bylaws
- Properly maintain project records
- Advise supervisor immediately of any project performance issues and work to resolve problems, including ongoing review of project quality and monitoring of budget and schedule
- Ensure that competent peer reviews are conducted at project milestones
- Graduate of an accredited
B. Arch program coupled with 5-10 years of Industrial and Transit project experience is required. - Registration or intern registration, with a provincial regulatory board an asset
- Demonstrated design aptitude and graphic capabilities
- Knowledge of applicable building codes and by-laws
- Knowledge of construction practices
- Proficient in design software;
Revit knowledge is an asset - Effective written and oral communication skills
