Manager, Architectural Project Design

Certain Teed Architectural is seeking a Manager, Project Design to lead and mentor a talented team of Senior Project Coordinators and Project Design Supervisors across our Decoustics and Strongsville Wood divisions. This is a pivotal leadership role focused on scheduling, resource allocation, and driving technical excellence in shop drawings and project design for custom ceiling and wall products.

We need a leader who can manage a multidisciplinary design team, oversee shop drawing creation, collaborate with clients, implement procedures, support cross‑training, manage freelancers, and provide status reviews, all while traveling quarterly to Strongsville and other locations.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a multidisciplinary design team (89 direct reports).
  • Assign and schedule projects, manage team workload, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Oversee the creation and validation of detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients to address design and technical inquiries.
  • Develop and implement CAD procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support cross‑training and process improvement initiatives to maximize team flexibility.
  • Manage external freelancers and oversee invoicing and billing.
  • Provide regular project status reviews to Project Managers and Senior Management.
  • Travel quarterly to Strongsville and other North American locations.

Benefits

Salary range: $125,000 to $140,000 per year. Eligible for an annual bonus of 13 % of base salary based on company and individual performance measures.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in architectural design/engineering (required).
  • 15+ years industry experience in commercial construction or equivalent.
  • 15+ years leadership experience managing cross‑functional design teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Solid Works; ERP systems knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of custom ceiling design (fiberglass, metal, wood) is a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to lead meetings, resolve conflicts, and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and mentoring skills.
