Senior Product Designer, Capital Advances

Lightspeed is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Capital Advances team. This squad builds and runs the machinery behind Lightspeed Capital, from the moment a merchant applies for an advance, through underwriting, to the advance being issued and repaid. Much of that surface is internal, the tooling and automation our underwriting and operations teams rely on to process advances at volume, sitting alongside the merchant facing moments at either end.

The work blends complex operational workflows with high stakes merchant experiences, and there is real room to turn a slow, manual process into a fast and largely automated one. In this role, you’ll help define a vision through iterative design and delivery.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of transforming complex workflows into simple, clear customer journeys with user‑friendly interfaces that seamlessly integrate with other workflows. You excel at identifying opportunities to deliver value and thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineers and product managers to create exceptional customer experiences.

• Problem Solving:
  Lead project work from a design perspective with autonomy and authority, facilitating design reviews and working sessions to help the teams deliver the best possible solutions. Being comfortable to work with ambiguity and able to turn nebulous concepts into specific ideas that are useful and delightful product features, as well as finding design moves that support the vision of automating business operation with AI.
  
  Ideally has deep domain knowledge and business acumen on lending product business operation, customer onboarding, credit product underwriting process.
• Designing with AI:
  You treat AI as part of how the work gets done, not a side experiment. We see three places it changes design here: synthesizing complex, varied data into insight that sharpens our read of the problem space, using agentic workflows to spin up working prototypes fast, and staying in the build loop by shaping the prompts and instructions the team uses to develop experiences in production.
• Embedding Systems Thinking:
  Have UX expertise and deep understanding of design systems, UI design, and how micro‑interactions can help users complete a task. Design holistic systems, flows and interfaces across two very different surfaces, the internal tooling our underwriting and operations teams work in every day and the merchant experiences at either end of an advance, keeping them coherent with each other.
• Driving User‑Centricity:
  Draw insights from research and data, and know how to turn those insights into tangible solutions. Learn the day to day of the people who underwrite and service advances as closely as you learn the merchant’s, and advocate for both when collaborating with cross‑functional teams in product, engineering, risk, and operations.
• Collaboration:
  
  Being comfortable working in a fast paced environment and familiar with the agile product development process and model. Work closely with your product and engineering partners in a tight cross‑functional trio, design and craft artifact to support and facilitate multi‑functional alignment sessions on product and design solutions.

• At least 7 years of practical, in‑house product, UX/UI design experience. Ideally with experience in designing and supporting development for 0 to 1 product.
