Description:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine, along with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Sinai Health, are seeking a physician with training in Clinical Genetics and Genomics with focus in Prenatal Diagnosis to join the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the Sinai Health System. The successful candidate will be resourced to hold an academic position description of Clinician Teacher and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor at the University of Toronto.

Applications from individuals at higher ranks of Associate Professor or Professor are welcome. The anticipated start date will be a mutually agreed upon date in 2026.

Sinai Health is a leader in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Prenatal Diagnosis and Medical Genetics and Neonatology, with one of the largest programs and services in Canada. It is a fully affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto and is associated with the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, an internationally recognized research institute, where research in women’s and infants’ health forms a major component.

The Prenatal Diagnosis and Medical Genetics Program is part of the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Sinai Health and provides care for the full range of Medical Disorders of Pregnancy, Prenatal Diagnosis and Medical Genetics, Fetal Diagnosis & Therapy, Placental Disorders, Complex Obstetric Surgery, and the Prevention of Prematurity. The Division services a metropolitan population of more than 6.5 million people, and actively collaborates with pediatric subspecialties at The Hospital for Sick Children via the Ontario Fetal Centre.

The successful candidate will provide a consultation practice focused on Medical Genetics and Prenatal/Fetal diagnosis through the Ontario Fetal Centre, in collaboration with a dedicated team of genetic counsellors and staff within the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine This role would include active participation in learning opportunities in the Department of OBGYN/Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine including educational rounds, Grand Rounds and journal clubs.

In addition, the applicant will dedicate ~20% of their time to their research/scholarly endeavors. Enthusiastic participation in all levels of our teaching and educational mandates is expected and there will be teaching duties for learners in Clinical Genetics, Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology, at both the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. The position requires an individual who has a recognized clinical and scholarly interest and experience in the field of prenatal diagnosis.

The successful candidate will promote and demonstrate excellence in professional practices and conduct.

Candidates must hold an MD degree, and either be licensed or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Qualified applicants must be certified (or eligible for certification) in the sub-specialty of Clinical Genetics and Genomics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or have comparable qualifications.

Estimated remuneration will be in the range of $ 300 000 - $350 000, commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. Applications will be accepted until May 1, 2026 or until the position is filled.
