About us:

The Faculty of Arts & Science is the heart of Canada’s leading university and one of the most comprehensive and diverse academic divisions in the world. The strength of Arts & Science derives from our combined teaching and research excellence in the humanities, sciences and social sciences across 29 departments, seven colleges and 46 interdisciplinary centres, institutes and programs.

We can only realize our mission with the dedication and excellence of engaged staff and faculty. The diversity of opportunities and perspectives within the Faculty reflect the local and global landscape and the need for curiosity, innovative thinking and collaboration. At Arts & Science, we take pride in our legacy of innovation and discovery that has changed the way we think about the world.

Your opportunity:

The Experiential Learning and Outreach Support office in the Faculty of Arts & Science has a mandate to grow quality experiential learning opportunities for Arts & Science students, including work-integrated learning, community-engaged learning, research, and international opportunities.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Experiential Learning, the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Coordinator will build and scale a multidisciplinary WIL stream under our existing Sandbox Program, an innovative program launched in 2023 that is geared towards building challenge-driven WIL opportunities for students across clusters of academic courses. Working closely with the Sandbox Program Manager, this newly created term position will operationalize project-based WIL opportunities for arts and science students with industry partners, building strategic relationships, resources, and infrastructure necessary to deliver sustainable programming in emerging sectors.

A key focus of this role will be overseeing industry engagement and actively promoting WIL opportunities to new organizations, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to meet targeted partnership goals.

Engaging closely with Arts & Science instructors and faculty, the WIL Coordinator will also support the development of new course-based WIL opportunities outside of the Sandbox Program that integrate industry-aligned projects into curricula. This includes conducting pedagogical research specific to disciplinary contexts and co-designing learning experiences with faculty and industry partners.

The incumbent will supervise a co-op student, manage multiple concurrent initiatives, lead the implementation of new specialized WIL platforms, and provide hands-on support to both students and industry partners throughout the WIL experience. The incumbent will also be responsible for overseeing regular data tracking and reporting to our funding partner supporting this initiative.

This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of WIL in Arts & Science by building meaningful connections between arts and science students and emerging sectors, such as AI and digital technology, while contributing to the expansion and sustainability of WIL programming across the Faculty.

Note: this is a term opportunity until April 2027.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Consulting with instructors, administrators and student groups on the development of tailored programming needs
  • Providing detailed information to hosts on how to lead appropriate learning opportunities for students
  • Planning and implementing components of curricular programs and activities; implementing plans that support the development of work-integrated learning opportunities for students
  • Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
  • Conducting detailed labour market analysis to inform program and partnership…
