Position: 2025-26 Health Assistant Pool - EA2NHQ - Student Wellness/10mo
Location: Old Toronto

Responsibilities

¿

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:

Follow protocols and written care plans to administer medication, treatments, and episodic care under the
¿ delegation and guidance of the LSN.¿

Maintain accurate Health Office records and secure storage of medication.¿

Provide first aide or CPR to students as needed.¿

Care for sick students within the Student Health and Wellness protocol of care; contact parents/guardians to pick up students from school as needed.¿

Manage student immunizations to meet school immunization laws by:¿

Gathering and documenting immunizations.¿

Communicating with parent/guardian in writing and through oral communication.¿

Providing information about community resources for obtaining immunizations.¿

Maintaining information in a database.¿

Identifying student
¿ s delinquent in complying with the school immunization law.

Under the direction of the LSN:¿

Prepare and conduct screenings for all students:
Vision, hearing, height, and weight.

Assist
¿ nursing staff with re-screening students as necessary.¿

Make home visits to assist with solving student health-related problems as necessary.

Make follow-up contacts with parents/guardians when important health information has been sent
¿ home.¿

Participate in training as required.¿

Promote effective communication and understanding relating to student health issues among
¿ students¿ homes, schools, and the community.¿¿

Participate in conferences with parents/guardians and staff that include discussions of student health related information and accommodations.¿

Contribute to the district's Strong Schools, Strong Communities efforts by partnering with other staff to
¿ contribute to student achievement and the alignment and sustainability of resources.

Perform other related duties as assigned.¿

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities¿

Knowledge of children
¿ s health issues.¿

Knowledge of the physical, social, and emotional needs of students.¿

Ability to interact effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff members representing diverse
¿ cultural and ethnic backgrounds.¿

Ability to assist parents/guardians in communicating with the school about their child
¿ s needs.

Ability to follow directions and/or guidance from the LSN¿

Ability to utilize computers to maintain records.¿

Ability to report information in an objective manner.¿

Excellent communication skills.¿

Working Conditions¿

Environment may include the school Health Office, classroom, or community sites visited by students.
¿ Frequent contact with ill children. Occasional lifting of up to fifty pounds.

PAY, BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE
This is a 10 month position working 37.5 hours per week.
Pay range for this position is: $21.94 - $32.02 EA1
Pay range for this position is: $25.04 - $39.31 EA2
Maximum hiring step EA1 = step fourteen (14)
Maximum hiring step EA2 = step fifteen (15)

Transcript - Unofficial transcripts are accepted at the time of hire. You must submit official transcripts within 30 days of your start date. Formal credential evaluation is required for post-secondary education completed outside of the United States.
