School Principal ($100K–$150K/yr + Relocation Assistance to Aroland, ON)
Join us at Scout Talent North America to lead the newly established Johnny Therriault School in Aroland First Nation, Ontario.
Pay RangeCA$/yr – CA$/yr
Responsibilities- Lead and support teachers, assistants, and staff to deliver high‑quality education programs.
- Oversee school operations, facilities, budgets, and logistical planning for a safe learning environment.
- Monitor student performance and support improvement planning based on data, observations, and stakeholder input.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, community members, Chief and Council, and education partners.
- Ensure the integration of local culture, language, traditions, and land‑based learning within school programming.
- Support staff development, mentorship, and effective use of curriculum, technology, and teaching resources.
- Manage hiring, supervision, and performance evaluation of school personnel.
- Uphold policies, regulatory requirements, and reporting obligations related to school administration and education governance.
- Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Arts.
- Completion of the Principal Qualifications Program (PQP) Part 1 and Part 2.
- Current Ontario College of Teachers Certification.
- 10+ years of teaching experience, including experience as a principal or comparable leadership role.
- Ability to undergo a criminal record check with a vulnerable sector check.
- Ability to be bondable.
- Hold a valid driver’s licence, a satisfactory driver’s abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Experience leading school operations, staff supervision, and performance management.
- Knowledge of First Nations education systems, challenges, and delivery models.
- Ability to manage budgets, logistics, and administrative processes.
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience incorporating culture, language, and community values into education programs.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with parents, community members, leadership, and education partners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence working independently while collaborating within a small, close‑knit team environment.
- Master’s Degree in Education (asset).
