Responsibilities
  • Deliver a combination of English for Academic Purposes (EAP), TOEFL and IELTS Preparation, Workplace Communication, and Canadian Society & Culture curricula at the KGU campus in Osaka, primarily in EAP and exam preparation courses (reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, research, study/exam skills).
  • Participate in the refinement and redesign of curricula; define and evaluate learning outcomes; develop appropriate learning materials.
  • Provide academic counseling to students with consideration for the international context of the program.
  • Collaborate with program members in KGU and Humber’s FLAS staff to support student pathways, provide mentorship, and contribute to the overall program and partnership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • TESL Canada/Ontario accreditation (OCELT preferred).
  • A minimum of two years’ teaching experience in a Canadian or international post-secondary ESL environment.
  • Engaging and effective teaching skills; ability to coach and support students; experience managing classroom dynamics; strong knowledge of current pedagogical principles; ability to work with students from varied educational and cultural backgrounds; well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative team player with a commitment to a positive team culture.

The successful candidate must:

  • Participate in a program orientation in Toronto.
  • Be able to live in Japan for a minimum of 9 months.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency to develop and deliver culturally responsive curriculum.
