The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) invites applications for a three-year full-time contractually limited term appointment (CLTA)
in Biotechnology and Translational Biology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026 and an end date of June 30, 2029.

Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Biology, Biotechnology or a related area, by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching throughout their scientific training. Post-doctoral training in academia or industry will be considered an asset to the application. The successful candidate will design and teach biotechnology curricula, including the use of computational tools and the development of translational applications and biomedical innovations, while emphasizing technology and production alongside bioethics and regulatory frameworks.
We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths . Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curricula development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.
Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below) as well as strong letters of reference .

The salary range is $110,000 to $125,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
