GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Workshop Facilitator/Coach plays a strategic role in strengthening Canada’s nursing workforce by supporting internationally educated nurses (IENs) to successfully navigate the licensure pathway and transition into professional practice. Acting as a sector-informed practitioner, the Facilitator/Coach bridges regulatory expectations, employer needs, and the lived experiences of IENs, while directly contributing to a sustainable talent pipeline that enhances patient care, workforce diversity, and system resilience.

The Workshop Facilitator/Coach is responsible for the design and development of nurses’ licensure pathway workshops, utilizing experiential and adult learning methodologies. In collaboration with the Project Manager and project team, the Facilitator/Coach ensures that workshop content meets participant needs and aligns with current healthcare workforce demands and regulatory requirements.

The Facilitator/Coach supports the Project Manager in developing workshop schedules for each intake and delivers workshops in person and/or online. The role involves responding to participant questions related to workshop content, providing constructive feedback, monitoring participant progress through case management, facilitating structured coaching sessions, and sharing sector-related resources and information to build participant confidence, competence, and readiness for both the licensure examination and professional practice.

Additionally, the Workshop Facilitator/Coach liaises with internal team members, staff from other projects, and external stakeholders to coordinate services, strengthen partnerships, and facilitate referrals in support of project goals, organizational capacity-building, and PCPI’s mandate. At all times, the Workshop Facilitator/Coach represents PCPI in a professional manner and promotes its programs and services within the nursing and healthcare ecosystem.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
Program Planning/Administrative
  • Plan, design and implement the curriculum including facilitator’s guide and activities, in collaboration with management, and in accordance with the overall objective of the project.
  • Assist with the development of marketing and outreach plans to promote the project, to target appropriate clients and to seek employment opportunities.
  • Assist project manager with the development and evaluation framework to assess effectiveness, and relevance of the program, to assist participants in obtaining industry licensure and employment in their field.
  • Review workshop content monthly to ensure information is current and appropriate to client group.
  • Coordinate mentoring opportunities and activities to assist the participant gain support and guidance in the sector.
  • Plan activities that adhere to the policies and procedures of the organization, including, but not limited to health and safety, and comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards.
  • Establish a case management system in accordance with the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization and manage the case files in a timely manner.
  • Prepare documentation and reports related to program activities, track participants’ activities and progress, and update data on a regular basis.
  • Establish a risk management and mitigation plan for the workshop’s activities.
  • Remain current and adaptive to changes within the sectors, labour market, and participant trends.
