Position SummaryReporting to the Senior Manager, Student Support & Strategic Integration, the Student Support & Inclusive Learning Officer (ISSO) is the front-facing role for GBP’s Counselling and Student Well-Being, Accessible Learning Services (ALS) and Office of Student Conduct and Support (OSCS) in the Division of Student Success. This role offers a sophisticated, integrated intake and triage function for students and other College community members seeking supports or services from these areas.
Working from three campuses (SJ, WF and CL), this multi-incumbent position provides: service area specific intakes, assesses eligibility for services and assists with service requirements, answers in-depth inquiries regarding service provisions, books appointments with relevant service areas, triages access to services, and provides community consultations for College members seeking guidance on service access and responses to situations pertinent to Student Well-Being programming.
- Responds to questions from students, staff, faculty and visitors across campuses (if needed), regarding Counselling, Accessible Learning Services, the Office of Student Conduct and Support and general college systems. Questions may be received by telephone, mail, email and or in person.
- Receives and processes ALS intake documentation from students and ensures information is accurate and complete, scans and uploads documents into student file into Accommodate. Maintains confidentiality.
- Triages distressed students and students in crisis. Applies de-escalating strategies, assesses level(s) of need, refers student to appropriate resources and supports, consults with or escalates to appropriate parties as necessary.
- Provides intake support for students registering with ALS by providing information, clarifying processes, referring to Consultants for test accommodations, arranging placement or admission testing as needed. Provides intake back up as needed.
- Works with the department coordinator to oversee all information and communications relating to the offices, such as posting, displays, and resources.
- Posts signage and communicates with staff, the Contact Centre and Public Safety and Security for unexpected closures.
- Triages student concerns/questions for both note takers and tutors. Contacts professors, programs coordinators, student success specialists, and/or alumni to assist in finding appropriate tutors.
- Schedules note takers and tutors for students registered with Accessible Learning Services.
- Emails class lists from Banner and coordinators to recruit class note takers.
- Maintains spreadsheets for note taking and tutoring requests, including their contact information.

- Minimum two-year diploma or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Social Work, Community Services, Human Services, or related/equivalent field.
