Museum Educator, Toronto Holocaust Museum
The new state-of-the-art Toronto Holocaust Museum seeks a Museum Educator to facilitate its school and community programs. With the goal of offering educational experiences to a wide range of students from across the GTA and community groups, the Museum Educator will engage groups in discussion-based programming that unpacks the lessons of the Holocaust in meaningful and relevant ways for today’s learners.
The Museum Educator will facilitate conversations with a variety of groups ranging in age from upper elementary to high school from a diversity of backgrounds including public, Catholic, private and Jewish day schools; and adult groups.
The Museum’s Ekstein Family Learning Lab, designed as a safe space for discussion, will be used as a post visit workshop space by the Educator to lead groups in programs allowing for thoughtful reflection about the museum experience while making timely connections to issues of hate today. The educator will establish rapport with different students and groups and tailor the post visit discussion to meet the needs of the group, in terms of their knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust.
Reporting to the Director, Museum Experience, this position supports efforts to sustain the Toronto Holocaust Museum as the province’s recognized leader in Holocaust education. The Museum Educator will collaborate with their THM colleagues to ensure each group visit to the museum is a transformative experience.
