Course description:
This second physics course is intended for students in physical and mathematical sciences programs. Topics include waves, electromagnetism and special relativity.

Specific duties will occur between May 1, 2026 and August 31, 2026.

Salary:
Starting September 1, 2025, the following rates of pay apply for half courses (F or S), inclusive of vacation pay:

  • $9,820.70 for a Sessional Lecturer I
  • $10,510.04 for a Sessional Lecturer I‑Long Term
  • $10,510.4 for a Sessional Lecturer II
  • $10,760.23 for an Sessional Lecturer II‑Long Term
  • $10,760.23 for a Sessional Lecturer III
  • $11,030.34 for a Sessional Lecturer III‑Long Term
Eligibility
  • Ph.D. in Physics or Astrophysics completed or in the later stages of completion.
  • Previous experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level. Previous experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.
Duties
  • Preparation of lectures (3 h/week), creation of exams, term tests, assignments, and materials for practical sessions.
  • Provision of assignments, tests, and exam solutions; exam marking; marks management; availability at regularly scheduled weekly office hours; and coordination of practical leaders.
  • Design and structuring of weekly practical sessions that include the development of conceptual understanding, problem‑solving competencies, experimental and data analysis skills related to the course content.
  • Training and providing supporting materials to the practical leaders, preparing them to facilitate each weekly session.
  • Setting up and supporting practical leaders in the delivery of two pre‑designed experiment‑based practical sessions during the term.

Lectures: TU 10:00 – 12:00; TH 10:00 – 11:00
