Job OverviewThis two-year full-time contractually limited term appointment (CLTA) focuses on media industries and the relationship between media industries and institutions. The appointment is at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream and begins on 1 August 2026.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in media industry studies, including lecture preparation, curriculum development, and creation of online materials.
- Implement an evidence-based, global, comparative, and critical approach to the political-economy, industrial, and technological dimensions of media production, distribution, and labour beyond North America.
- Engage in teaching-related scholarly activities and demonstrate pedagogical inquiry.
- Contribute to departmental teaching initiatives and support assessment and improvement of course offerings.
- BSc/MA in Media Studies, Communication Studies, Critical Platform Studies, or a related field; a PhD and exceptional teaching record by the start of the appointment.
- Specialised expertise in media industries and institutions with a focus on global south and non‑North‑American contexts (e.g., Bollywood, Nollywood, Latin American streaming economies).
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum design, online instruction, and commitment to pedagogical inquiry.
- Teaching dossier or evidence of teaching achievements, awards, presentations, and reference letters.
$110,000 – $125,000 CAD per annum (depending on experience). Negotiations above this range may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
