This is a full-time position starting in September 2026, with a particular focus on Grades 7 to 9 students.

Compensation & Placement Salary is determined by the Havergal Faculty Grid, ranging from $74,711 – $106,714 for early-career faculty and $107,078 – $140,448 for those with 6+ years of experience. Final placement is based on recognized teaching years, degrees, and Additional Qualifications (AQs).

The Position

The Guidance Department at Havergal College oversees academic and post-secondary counselling and supports the social-emotional development of high-performing, driven students in Grades 7–12. As a guidance counsellor in this department, you will coach and monitor the wellbeing of a caseload of students, overseeing their progress throughout their Upper School years at Havergal, and assisting them in discovering their values and purpose and in developing agency.

You will work with a collaborative, dynamic department to support faculty as they develop strategies and approaches to meet the needs of a diverse and exceptional group of learners. You will share your expertise with parents and the broader community.

As an experienced guidance counsellor and/or educator, you will:

  • Be practiced in the individual coaching and counselling of a diverse student body.
  • Develop engaging and dynamic group programming (academic & social-emotional).
  • Bring empathy, approachability, authenticity and innovation to your work with students.
  • Bring lifelong learning to the school and demonstrate a commitment to professional development and growth.

This faculty role reports directly to the Director of Guidance (7-9) and US Learning Support. This role also works collaboratively with other members of the Student Support team (Learning Support, Social Workers, Health Centre, Chaplain), as well as the Head and Assistant Heads of the Upper School.

Energy and a willingness to contribute to the diverse life of the school community are expected, including the co-curricular, club, and global education programs.

Specific Accountabilities
  • Provides academic counselling to Upper School students, with a particular focus on Grades 7-9.
  • Coaches and monitors students’ social-emotional development, overseeing their progress throughout their Upper School years at Havergal, and assisting them in discovering their values and purpose and in developing agency.
  • Supports all learners with diverse strategies and approaches and is willing to bring innovative solutions to the challenges students experience.
  • Demonstrates an approach to counselling that is reflective of best practices in supporting adolescent girls.
