Assistant Professor in German Language Teaching

The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures offers a three-year full-time contractually limited appointment starting August 1, 2026. This role focuses on teaching introductory to intermediate German language courses and includes mentoring teaching assistants. You will manage course materials, coordinate curricula, and support administrative functions within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach German language courses across various proficiency levels

• Mentor and coordinate teaching assistants and course instructors

• Develop and manage course materials and online lectures

• Serve as the German language sequence coordinator

• Provide support for departmental administrative tasks

Requirements:

• PhD in German Studies or related field upon appointment

• Native or near-native proficiency in German

• Proven teaching excellence and curriculum innovation

• Experience in coordinating multi-section courses

• Commitment to pedagogical inquiry and research
