Academic Level C/D $155K-$200K (based on experience) + 17% super + annual leave loading - Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold unrestricted work rights to be considered for this position.
This position may be appointed as either Education Focused (EF) or Teaching & Research (T&R), depending on the successful candidate’s profile and experience.
Education Focused (EF) StreamThe Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor plays a central role in delivering high‑quality, innovative teaching and enhancing the student experience within the physiotherapy program. The role focuses on curriculum design, development and continuous improvement, with particular emphasis on musculoskeletal physiotherapy and contributions to related areas such as anatomy. Working within a collaborative academic environment, the position supports evidence‑based teaching, fosters an inclusive and engaging learning culture, and contributes to curriculum innovation, accreditation activities, and engagement with the profession.
At Associate Professor level, the role provides leadership in teaching excellence, curriculum development, and mentoring within UNSW’s Education Focused community.
The Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor contributes to both high‑quality teaching and a strong program of research with national and international impact. The role combines teaching within physiotherapy programs, including musculoskeletal physiotherapy, with the development of an independent and impactful research agenda. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing disciplinary knowledge, securing research funding, supervising higher degree research candidates, and building collaborative research partnerships.
At Associate Professor level, the role includes leadership in research, mentoring of staff and students, and driving innovation across teaching, research and clinical translation, contributing to a high‑performing and collaborative academic environment.
- A PhD in Physiotherapy or other related health / medical disciplines.
- Registration with AHPRA as a physiotherapist in Australia.
- Proven commitment to proactive maintenance of discipline knowledge and development.
- Clinical expertise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, with the ability to contribute to complementary areas within the School of Health Sciences.
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence‑based practice, including the application, translation, and/or teaching of research evidence in clinical or educational contexts.
- Experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery of courses (subjects) and programmes (degrees), at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Significant experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programmes, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Evidence of professional development in teaching and a strong track record of teaching excellence.
- Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
- Demonstrated track record in research (may be in scholarship of learning and teaching) with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
- A PhD in Physiotherapy or other related health / medical disciplines.
- Registration with AHPRA as a physiotherapist (or eligibility and willingness to seek registration).
- Clinical expertise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, with the ability to contribute to complementary areas within the School of Health Sciences.
