The Team
Student Communications, within the Office of the Vice‑Provost, Students (OVPS), plays a central role in shaping how Toronto Metropolitan University connects with prospective and current students. The team develops integrated communications and digital engagement strategies that support student success, strengthen community connection, and enhance the overall student experience. Through collaborative partnerships across the university, Student Communications delivers clear, accessible, and student‑centred messaging across web, print, and digital platforms to support students at every stage of their TMU journey.

The OVPS supports TMU’s academic plan and strategic priority of fostering greater student engagement and success through exceptional student experiences.

The Opportunity
Shape the voice of the student experience at TMU by leading innovative communications strategies that engage, inform, and inspire prospective and current students in a competitive post‑secondary landscape.

The Associate Director, Communications will provide strategic leadership for the development and execution of integrated student communications across print and digital platforms. This role will be responsible for advancing innovative communication and web strategies, the position helps strengthen TMU’s presence and reputation within the higher education sector.

The Associate Director will work collaboratively with leaders across the Office of the Vice‑Provost, Students (OVPS), as well as with faculties, University Relations (UR), and other institutional departments. The role supports the delivery of exceptional student‑focused services and provides leadership to the Communications and Web Strategy team to ensure effective, consistent, and impactful messaging across the institution.

Key Responsibilities

Leads the strategic development and implementation of all OVPS student communication activities and initiatives within the Student Communications team portfolio, ensuring alignment with OVPS priorities and university goals. Reinforces consistent and relevant messaging to various student groups.

Determines appropriate KPIs and measures of success. Researches and analyzes communication trends, best practices and other activities to develop long‑ and short‑range strategic plans for effective student engagement across the OVPS portfolio.
