As part of Humber’s commitment to advancing the inclusion of Indigenous students, professors, and staff, and pursuant to section 14 of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Indigenous Education & Engagement invites candidates from Indigenous communities, including those who identify as First Nations, Métis, and Inuit, or from other Indigenous groups on Turtle Island including Alaskan Native, Native American and Native Hawaiian people, to apply for the Indigenous Student Advisor position.

Location:
North Campus (In Person), with regular travel to Lakeshore Campus as required to support Indigenous student services, programming, and team collaboration across both sites. - Salary Range: FT Support Payband H (Start $37.34 - Max $43.18)
Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outlined in the Full‑Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.
About the Indigenous Education & Engagement Department at HumberIndigenous Education & Engagement (IE&E) works in partnership with regional Indigenous communities to ensure Indigenous students are supported and connected to their learning environment—academically, culturally and socially. IE&E is committed to braiding Indigenous Ways of Being, Knowing, and Doing into Humber’s academic programs, course content and co‑curricular activities.
About the RoleReporting to the Manager, Indigenous Education & Engagement, the Indigenous Student Advisor (ISA) is a proactive and collaborative team member dedicated to supporting Indigenous students and alumni through academic and career advising. From admission through graduation and beyond, the ISA empowers students to recognize and apply their unique gifts, skills, and strengths, while connecting them to resources and expertise that foster academic success.
The ISA provides culturally informed advising, drawing on knowledge of Indigenous diversity and nuance, institutional policies, systems, regulations, and guidelines. They offer guidance to students facing financial challenges, registration issues, program changes, or academic difficulties, tailoring support to each student’s context and needs.
As part of a broader network of advising and service professionals, the ISA contributes to Humber and the University of Guelph‑Humber’s exceptional learning environment. They play a leadership role in designing, delivering, and evaluating Indigenous Student Success events, programs, and initiatives, and provide strategic recommendations to enhance institutional service standards.
