To teach this course, the following course specific teaching qualifications must be met, and evidence included in a teaching .
Applicants and/or employees shall be evaluated by the Selection Committee in terms of qualifications and appointments shall be offered on this basis:
Education
The minimum educational qualifications for this role are as follows:
Applicants must have at least a Master's level degree in a relevant discipline or profession.Experience
Applicants must have at least two years of relevant work and/or community experience in the professional field or discipline appropriate to the area of instructionApplicants must have an excellent record of teaching experience at the post-secondary level, which is evidenced in the teaching dossier with teaching evaluations, student letters, teaching awards, creation of syllabi and other assignmentsPrevious experience teaching the same or an equivalent course at Toronto Metropolitan or another universityApplicants who have worked in an interdisciplinary community setting and/or have taught an interdisciplinary course are preferredCurrency
Evidence of having maintained up-to-date knowledge (including practice skills, where appropriate) and achievements in their field/disciplinePreference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated attendance and/or participation in continuing education within the past three yearsPreference will be given to applicants who have presented at relevant conferences in the past three years and who have evidence of subject-related peer reviewed publications within the past 10 years.Applicants with active membership in a professional organization relevant to the field or who provide board or service work related to the course area are preferred.Teaching Skills and Effective Interaction
Evidence of teaching effectively to adult learners and/or evidence of teaching effectively in a post-secondary environment which may include relevant assessment tools or equivalent documentationEvidence of ability to interact effectively with adult learners and colleagues in a diverse and inclusive environment; ability to work effectively in groups; ability to resolve conflicts constructivelyEvidence of ability to include equity, diversity and inclusion into their teachingAbility to empathize with others and consider varied perspectivesAbility to carry out the duties and obligations of a CECL in accordance with Article 12 of the Collective AgreementApplicants must include a Teaching Philosophy Statement in their teaching dossier.Applicants may be interviewed at the discretion of the selection committee.Online Qualifications
Demonstrated experience of ability to effectively teach in an online environment which includes demonstrated knowledge of best practices for the delivery and management of online courses, including using course management system tools to communicate with students and to foster and support a collaborative online learning community with and between students in the course.Evidence of having maintained up to date knowledge in online teaching. Successful completion of the Chang School's Teaching Adult Learners Online (TALO) preferred.Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of personal computers that are relevant to this course, including document creation, file management, internet research, and communicationsApplicants must demonstrate their knowledge of best practices for the delivery and management…
