Assistant Professor – Leadership in Health Informatics Systems and Policy Research

Position: Full time, tenure stream, rank Assistant Professor.

Start date:

January 1, 2027.

Qualifications
  • PhD in Health Informatics, Information Science, Information Systems, or other relevant fields.
  • Focused expertise in implementation or scaling of digital health innovations in areas such as data governance, socio‑technical systems, safety, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and research in health informatics policy, leadership, and systems research.
  • Emerging or proven excellence as a leader of collaborative, multi‑ and inter‑trans‑disciplinary research.
  • Ability to attract competitive external research funding, record of publications in top‑ranked peer‑reviewed journals, and strong endorsements by referees.
  • Commitment to integrating knowledge users, policy makers, and members of the public in research.
  • Strong teaching dossier including teaching philosophy, sample course materials, evaluations; and evidence of superior teaching performance.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct innovative independent research and establish an externally funded program in leadership in digital health transformation.
  • Teach courses such as Leadership for Digital Health Transformation, Systems Design and Policy Development in Health Informatics, Information and Interoperability Governance, Knowledge Management and Systems, AI/ML and Precision Medicine, and Digital Health Implementation.
  • Assume academic leadership positions, including curriculum development for professional and research programs in the Institute.
  • Mentor students, supervise graduate research, and contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations.
  • Engage with knowledge users, policy makers, and the public to inform research and practice.

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond the range may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
