Responsibilities
- Training – go through the curriculum and learn it
- Paid training – learn our company's proprietary curriculum
- Instruct and assist children with their coding activities/questions/activities
- Create a positive and safe environment for students to grow
- Create a positive, safe, and FUN environment for children to grow
- Work with children to determine skill sets
- Work with children to determine skill sets and document their progress
- Provide feedback to parents after working with students
- Provide feedback to parents of children's progress
- Follow opening/closing duties daily
- Follow opening/closing in‑centre duties daily
- Clean dojo throughout the day to ensure cleanliness is kept up to corporate standards
- Clean and disinfect facility and equipment throughout the day to ensure cleanliness is kept up to corporate standards
- Report weekly to Center Assistant Manager on progress
- Report daily to Center Manager with respect to day’s activities and productivity in dojo
- Report daily to Lead Sensei / Centre Director / Owner with respect to day’s activities and productivity in classrooms
- Document children's progress in tracking system
- Working history with children ages 5 and 15 (mentoring, coaching, tutoring etc.)
- Experience working with the general public
- Experience in teaching, mentoring or child care
- Works well with others; collaborates
- Knowledgeable about coding and technology; or able to quickly pick up basic concepts
- Must be fun to work with and like working in fast‑paced environments where requirements can change frequently
- Preference if candidate resides in Scarborough
- Must have a growth mindset, be willing to learn, and work as a team; also must be FUN to work with; sense of humour important
- Extensive working experience with children ages 5 and up; must love to work with children
- Current or graduated students from university or college with discipline related to Computer Science, Engineering, Game Development/Programming/Design, E‑sports, Robotics, or relevant discipline preferred
- High school students welcome to apply but must be very proficient in computer programming/game modding
- Knowledge of and experience using various coding languages (Scratch, JavaScript, Python, Microsoft Makecode, Lua Roblox, Unity, C#, LEGO Robotics)
- Knowledge of Unity C# is required
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certified an asset but not mandatory
- French and/or Chinese speaking an asset but not mandatory
