opportunity

The International Scholarships Team Lead will work closely with the Associate Director, International Student Experience and Global Fluency to support the day-to-day operations and provide guidance to international scholars through multiple scholarship programs administered by the Centre for International Experience. This role will provide student support pertaining to student life and international student experience affairs. The International Scholars Team Lead will work with cohort‑based, high profile international scholarship students, and will support work related to Advancement, Student Life and divisional teams across the university.

The incumbent works with tri‑campus International Student Centres, University Registrar’s Office, Student Life partners and faculties to: deliver international scholars’ enrichment activities related to the scholarship programs, resolve accessibility and personal circumstances hindering academic performance and personal wellbeing, meet program requirements and targets in accordance with scholarship sponsors / external partners’, and nurturing an overall positive student experience. Supports daily communication, coordination and delivery of activities related to: international scholars’ welcome, orientation and well‑being, social / intercultural activities, professional development, personal, co‑curricular and academic one-to-one advising, and other tailored activities for international scholarship students related to their scholarship program.

Your

responsibilities will include
  • Advising students on co‑curricular, academic and personal matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background.
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action plans and follow‑up items. Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required.
  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co‑curricular programs and activities. Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars; and keeping well-informed on theories related to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities. Keeping well-informed on the research, literature, theory, trends and best practices for post‑secondary success
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
  • Reviewing and assessing student applications for admission into programs.
