Overview
Early Childhood Educator – Permanent Part‑Time (5 Hours/Day, Split Shift) e Frances Child Care Centre, 2745 Jane St, North York, ON, M3L 2E8.
Responsibilities- Develop and lead high‑quality, developmentally appropriate programs that promote children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth.
- Plan, execute and evaluate daily programming using the approved curriculum and approach.
- Ensure a safe environment, supervising children and maintaining hazard‑free equipment and surroundings.
- Support the inclusion and integration of children with special needs; observe and respond to each child’s strengths, challenges, emerging skills and interests.
- Collaborate with other staff (Assistant Teacher, Resource Teacher) and maintain positive, respectful adult‑child interactions.
- Communicate effectively and sensitively with parents/families, providing meaningful feedback on their child’s learning and development.
- Liaise with external agencies to support child progress (e.g., schools, special needs consultants).
- Assist in medication management, allergies, and scheduling.
- Deliver meals and snacks, maintain a clean, organized kitchen, and perform housekeeping duties as needed.
- Supervise student teachers and assist with college evaluation processes.
- Early Childhood Education degree or diploma (or equivalent). Experience with families, children and children with special needs.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver inclusive programming and deliver the HIGH SCOPE curriculum.
- Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with strong listening ability.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet and email.
- Ability to build effective partnerships with parents/families, colleagues and service providers of diverse backgrounds.
- Acceptable Vulnerable Police Record Check.
- Current Standard First Aid certification and appropriate medical and immunization record.
Trained Teacher Salary Scale (starting at $50,072–$54,465 per annum) with competitive benefits (health & dental) and paid time off (starting at 20 vacation days & 3 float days). This position is within the CUPE Local 2563 bargaining unit.
