After School Program Supervisor, Prep School

Employment

Terms:

Part‑Time, 10‑Month Contract (15 hours per week). End date:
June 2027.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Document and report staff hours to the ASP Coordinator.
  • Coordinate with staff and the ASP Coordinator regarding staffing levels.
  • Train new staff as required.
  • Ensure staff are engaging in professional interactions with students, parents, and other staff.
  • Ensure that students are under staff supervision at all times.
  • Supervise and monitor attendance; sign students in and out of the program.
  • Supervise and assist with homework completion; daily agenda checks.
  • Supervise students using various resources at different locations (Prep Fields, Second Floor Arena Lounge, Sport Court, Tennis Bubble, etc.).
  • Engage with students and facilitate peer‑to‑peer interaction.
  • Oversee the sign‑out process.
  • Supervise and facilitate contractor responsibilities.
  • Ensure parent communication; incident reports, student challenges.
  • Liaise with the ASP Coordinator about student and parental issues.
  • Encourage and model positive student interaction.
  • Promote a positive, engaging, happy environment for students.
  • Encourage students in their pursuit of learning.
  • Care for young student needs and provide guidance.
  • Welcome and offer assistance to all visitors who enter the reception area.
  • Direct telephone calls to the appropriate recipient.
Job Requirements
  • Enrolled in or have completed a diploma or degree program such as a Bachelor or Master of Teaching or Early Childhood Education.
  • Lifeguarding or coaching qualifications/experience would be an asset.
  • Work experience from other after‑school programs, camps, or daycares. Experience in camp‑like settings providing supervision and instruction for boys clubs, and/or activities.
  • Interest in working with children in a fast‑paced, energized environment.
  • Knowledge of UCC ASP work procedures including sign‑in/out responsibilities and daily UCC routines (facility use, faculty schedules, dismissal procedures, etc.).
  • Knowledge of CFL trained guidelines and methods.
  • Knowledge of school/college policies and standards for students.
  • Knowledge of recreational sports, varying club activities.
  • Knowledge of the objectives of the programs at the ASP.
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve conflicts, scheduling issues, facility challenges, etc.
  • Ability to work with students and keep them organized and reflecting behaviour of a respectful UCC student.
  • Ability to organize and operate a club or activity for 8 weeks of programming.
  • Ability to identify potential areas of risk, and develop programs to mitigate the risk and redirect activity in a more healthy direction.
  • Ability to identify and assess grounds‑related problems caused by weather, pests or other factors, and communicate them to the supervisor.
  • Responsible for student supervision, program supervision, parent communication, administrative accounting for staff, student wellbeing, and reception tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to plan and organize special event days and other activities.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships across the school/college and with fellow colleagues.
  • Ability to keep management apprised of issues and present proposed action recommendations.
  • Provides supervision and guidance to students.
  • Provides supervision and guidance to ASP staff.
  • Attentiveness to details, problem‑solving, basic communication, and creativity to provide a positive and engaging environment for students.
