This role is crucial for fostering educational success for Indigenous students within the Urban Indigenous Education Centre. You will collaborate with classroom teachers, provide culturally safe instruction, and implement wrap-around supports. Your lived experience as an Indigenous person will be vital in addressing the unique academic needs and identities of your students.
Key Responsibilities:
• Adapt programs for individual Indigenous learners
• Lead equity initiatives in education projects
• Model effective teaching strategies for Indigenous education
• Conduct assessments to monitor student progress
• Create alternative paths for student success
Requirements:
• Lived experience as a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit person
• Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of Qualification
• Basic qualifications in Primary, Junior or Intermediate
• Experience with Indigenous learners and communities
• Strong understanding of Indigenous pedagogy
