Position: Well-Being Counsellor (Grade 9 - 12 )

Well‑being Counsellor (Grade 9 – 12)
Permanent Full‑time

What You’ll Do
  • Consult and collaborate with faculty to champion students’ well‑being
  • Provide brief individual and/or group counselling to meet students’ social, emotional, and well‑being needs
  • Participate in parent‑teacher and/or counsellor‑parent conferences
  • Provide educational workshops for students and parents on well‑being topics
  • Support faculty and staff to foster an inclusive community in collaboration with the Student Well‑being department and the Dean of Inclusive Excellence and Global Citizenship
  • Provide support and crisis intervention for students as needed and communicate with appropriate stakeholders promptly
  • Maintain confidential case records and review trends within the community to identify possible interventions
  • Collaborate in developing a Grade9–12 Advisory program and ensure a whole‑school approach to well‑being skill development
  • Support students with absences and return to school in liaison with BSS Nurses, families, vice principals, and faculty
  • Support the transition between Grade8 and 9 and the orientation process for incoming Grade9–12 students
  • Actively engage in the boarding program, consulting with boarding advisors and providing programming and engagement with boarding students
High Performing Athlete Program
  • As needed, supports students with the significant demands of school and external commitments, coordinating with Learning Services to create a support or academic plan
Administrative
  • Monitor and review student achievement during assessment and reporting cycles
  • Understand and interpret data that can be applied to professional and school goals
Who You Are
  • Master or Bachelor of Social Work, Psychotherapy, or related field
  • Experience in a high school or educational setting
  • Expert knowledge of developmental, social/emotional, and educational needs of students
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, multi‑task, adapt to change, and work under pressure in a rigorous educational setting
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to develop caring relationships with students, families, and teachers
  • Expertise in developing and facilitating student and parent workshops
  • Culturally competent with a positive attitude toward cultural uniqueness and readiness to accept and respect others
