Early Childhood Educator (ECE) – Job Description
Job Title: Early Childhood Education Instructor
Location: Onsite, Toronto Campus, 425 Bloor Street
E., Suite 200, Toronto, ON M4W 3R4
Hours: Part-time, Monday to Friday, 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Start Date: August 3, 2026
Compensation: $27/hr - $31/hr
The OpportunityThe primary responsibilities of this position are to provide quality delivery of assigned Early Childhood Education courses utilizing a variety of instruction strategies, techniques, and delivery methods to meet the individual learning styles of the students, in a safe and civil learning environment. Instructors are responsible for teaching assigned courses in accordance with course competencies, taking daily attendance, and grading class tests, assignments, and exams.
WhatYou'll Be Doing
- Ensuring that class delivery is optimized.
- Preparing lecture/lab and class materials as required.
- Developing and/or utilizing a variety of instructional strategies, techniques and delivery methods designed to meet the individual learning styles of students.
- Instructing assigned courses in accordance with course competencies and facilitating classes.
- Using the Learning Management System (LMS) to access course content and ensuring students can access it.
- Responding to student questions about the LMS platform and escalating questions to the LMS Administrator when necessary.
- Preparing and grading tests, assignments, and examinations.
- Administering assessments using the LMS platform.
- Moderating and submitting student grades using the LMS platform.
- Entering student grades in the recorded system as per campus protocol.
- Monitoring and entering student attendance in XCAS.
- Informing students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, attendance policies, and providing them with a copy of the course outline.
- Advising students regarding their academic needs and referring them for additional assistance as needed.
- Ensuring students are meeting academic guidelines and communicating progress to the Campus Director.
- Identifying students who are struggling, absent or have issues impacting their progress and escalating proactively to the Campus Director.
- Early Childhood Educator (ECE) registration and in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Five (5) years of related work experience in an Early Childhood Education environment.
- University degree in a related field (Teaching, Early Childhood Education, etc.).
- A degree or diploma in Adult Education (considered an asset).
- Understanding of Adult Learning Principles (preferred).
- Teaching experience (preferred).
- Readiness and willingness to apply different ways of communicating to accommodate various learning styles.
- Ability to facilitate group sessions and presentations.
