The Toronto District School Board is currently hiring for a Native Languages Teacher for a term of one year. This position aims to enhance the educational experience for Indigenous students through personalized instruction in Ojibwe. Collaborate with colleagues and community to create a nurturing learning space that aligns with Truth and Reconciliation principles.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach the Ojibwe language effectively to elementary students
• Provide customized instruction to suit diverse learning needs
• Engage with traditional practices in language instruction
• Support student identity and academic success
• Work alongside Urban Indigenous Education Center for resources
Requirements:
• Must possess lived experience as Indigenous
• Strong commitment to equity and anti-oppressive practices
• Experience with Indigenous education methodologies
• Valid teaching certification in Ontario
• Understanding of TDSB’s strategic goals for Indigenous students
