What You Will Do

Reporting to the Director, Employee Development, this position is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating a variety of e‑learning related training and development programs of TTC‑wide and department specific interest and/or need. The incumbent will focus on updating and maintaining TTC’s existing e‑learning library, develop strategies for corporate e‑learning initiatives, and promote innovation and continuous improvement in the use of e‑learning and learning technologies, following industry standards and utilizing new and existing technologies.

The incumbent will also demonstrate behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment, and will help remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code, the AODA, and TTC’s policies.

  • Identify and analyse e‑learning training and development needs across unionized staff, supervisory, management and professional areas.
  • Develop strategies for corporate e‑learning initiatives and promote innovation and continuous improvement in the use of e‑learning and learning technologies by following industry standards in design and development and utilizing new and existing technologies, customizing procured training materials to meet the specific needs of the TTC.
  • Provide guidance to other departments on opportunities for training programs and online learning experiences.
  • Research the availability of external training resources (organizations/consultants) in response to training requests from other departments.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
  • A post‑secondary education in Adult Education, Instructional Design, or a related field, combined with several years of directly related work experience in e‑learning.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing e‑learning strategies, plans and processes; and sound knowledge of available learning technologies, including Learning Management Systems.
  • Proven experience working with authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate.
  • Solid knowledge of the fundamentals of web‑based training instructional design; and hands‑on experience with e‑learning authoring, creating storyboards, rapid prototyping, quizzes and multimedia applications.
  • Sound knowledge of adult education principles and experience applying them to course design and delivery.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience related to the techniques and methodologies of training needs assessment, program design, delivery and evaluation.
  • Highly developed project management and vendor management skills.
  • Strong written/oral communication skills and well‑developed interpersonal skills to deal with a diverse client base.
  • Working knowledge of computer software packages such as Microsoft Office.
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and related orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
