Responsibilities
  • Research and develop a York presentation and deliver it in secondary schools across Ontario as part of a team.
  • Counsel and advise prospective students, counsellors and parents to develop a well-informed, vibrant, highly academic applicant pool for York University.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    University degree required, or an equivalent of 4 years of recent experience (defined as within the last five years) performing similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to experiential requirements.
  • Experience:

    Minimum 1-year related experience (e.g., liaison, public relations, customer service, marketing, student advising/counselling, etc.), including making effective presentations, preferably in an educational environment.
  • Skills:

    Knowledge of the Ontario university educational system, admissions criteria and university programs; experience with secondary school students, counsellors, or teachers is preferred. Strong oral communication for presenting detailed information, public speaking, and effective presentations. Ability to analyze and interpret information; excellent interpersonal and public relations skills; tact and diplomacy; strong organizational skills; ability to work independently and set priorities; excellent written communication;

    good judgment and initiative; ability to work under time constraints; confidentiality in advising/counselling; lifting and bending.

  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License and provide a satisfactory Driver's Abstract at hire and upon request.
  • Must provide verification of degree(s) and credentials from accredited institutions and/or international equivalents at the time of interview.
  • Hours of work: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm with flexible hours to accommodate presentations and events outside normal business days; some evenings and weekends required. Summer schedule: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm with reduced Friday hours (June–August). Occasional overtime may be available.
  • Peak periods:
    August to November and February to May. Hour changes may occur during peak periods. Vacation restrictions may apply during peak periods.
