Indigenous Education Secondary Teacher

Position: Indigenous Education Secondary Teacher Role
Lead transformative learning as a Secondary Teacher at the Native Learning Centre Downtown, part of the Toronto District School Board.

Your role will focus on delivering engaging, culturally informed education to Indigenous students.

As part of your two-year assignment, you will implement strategies that reflect Indigenous perspectives and meet diverse student needs. The position emphasizes collaboration, equity, and fostering positive identities among First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students within a supportive environment. You will be encouraged to adapt and refine curriculum based on assessments and student feedback.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead culturally responsive instruction in your subject areas

• Conduct assessments and monitor student progress

• Mentor peers in implementing Indigenous teaching practices

• Collaborate on initiatives supporting Indigenous food sovereignty

• Engage with community needs and educational resources

Requirements:

• Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers

• Multiple qualifications in related subject areas

• Knowledge of Indigenous language and culture

• Strong understanding of education barriers for Indigenous students

• Demonstrated commitment to equitable and anti-oppressive practices
