The Role
Reporting to the Academic Principal, the Academic Secondary English Teacher delivers engaging, high‑quality instruction aligned with the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum. The role supports student academic success within NBS’s unique training environment, where rigorous academic study is balanced alongside professional ballet training. The successful candidate fosters a structured, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, strong communication skills, and a genuine appreciation for literature.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, the teacher contributes to curriculum development, student assessment, and the overall academic experience while supporting the individual learning needs and well‑being of each student.
Contract Term
One‑year (2026/2027 school year)

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Bring Learning to Life
Plan and deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned lessons, assessments, and reports following the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum expectations and Growing Success.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
Adapt to the unique demands of a ballet‑focused schedule.
Use innovative methods and technology to enhance learning.
Provide clear feedback and monitor student progress.
Create a Positive Classroom
Build a structured, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
Address behaviour with fairness and consistency.
Champion Student Growth
Identify and support students with diverse needs.
Foster critical thinking, creativity, and personal development.
Provide academic and emotional guidance.
Collaborate & Communicate
Work closely with colleagues, leadership, and families.
Maintain accurate records and communicate student progress regularly.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience

Education
University Undergraduate Degree
Bachelor of Education Degree
Member of the Ontario College of Teachers
Experience
1‑2 years of direct teaching experience in the classroom setting with demonstrated classroom management skills.
Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of Ontario curriculum, assessment practices, and effective instruction.
Ability to engage, differentiate, and make learning accessible for all students.
Confident classroom management and organizational skills.
Clear communicator and collaborative team player.

Proficient with educational technology and digital tools.

Compensation
Salary Range: $53,000 - 90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and aligned with internal equity.
