The following Sessional Lecturer positions are available in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media for the Fall 2026 academic session. In accordance with the Collective Agreement, this posting is being sent as an email notification to all applicants in the Department’s Applicant Pool: all Sessional Lecturers who are teaching for the Department during the current academic year or who have taught for the Department since September 1, 2005, and all persons who have submitted an application within the past twenty‑four months.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with 14:12.

Salary
  • Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.48
  • Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term (Six or more years as SL I): $10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.96

Sessional Dates (excluding Exam period): F courses:
September 8 – December 8, 2026

Note:

all positions involve completion of any course grading not finished by December 31, 2026 for F courses.

Stagecraft II:
Applied Technical Production
– This course covers advanced technical skills in the areas of lighting, sound, material fabrication for set and properties. Students learn professional practices around safety and work collaboratively on shared projects.

Duties:
All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments and final portfolios; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.

Qualifications:

University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of professional experience in general technical theatre practice, including in as many of the following areas as possible: stage management, lighting, sound, video projection, costumes, set building, carpentry, and costume tailoring. The candidate must have teaching experience, and experience teaching at the college or university level will be considered an asset.

Note:

The position(s) posted above is (are) tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolments. Courses must meet a minimum enrolment of more than 50 in order to qualify for TA hours.
