Position: Teacher (RECE or Montessori) - Bloomsbury Academy )
About the Role  As a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) Teacher, you will work closely with Bloomsbury Academy staff to create and implement developmentally appropriate programs for children aged 18 months to 6. You will lead your assigned classroom, fostering a safe, inclusive setting that supports children’s holistic development while adhering to regulatory standards and organizational philosophy. This position is being created to support anticipated growth and requires a full‑time on‑site presence.

The hourly range for this position is $28 to $30 per hour, based on skills and experience, and includes paid vacation, personal days, comprehensive benefits, wellness and mental health resources, and a generous professional development allowance.
Responsibilities   Under the guidance of the Director/Site Supervisor Teacher, collaborate with Bloomsbury staff to design and implement a curriculum tailored to the developmental needs of children in the assigned classroom, incorporating Montessori principles and practices where applicable.
Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the program by identifying innovative ways to enrich children’s learning experiences and foster independence, curiosity, and growth.
Utilize assessment tools such as Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT), How Does Learning Happen?, and AQI to evaluate program effectiveness, monitor children’s progress, and inform program planning.
Foster a supportive, inclusive, and prepared learning environment that promotes children’s cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and practical life development.
Observe children daily to monitor overall health, development, and well‑being, documenting observations and communicating potential learning or behavioural concerns to the Director/Site Supervisor Teacher and families as appropriate.
Promote positive interactions, self‑regulation, and respectful behaviour guidance while providing ongoing supervision during classroom, playground, group, individual, and routine activities.
Maintain accurate and complete child records, including emergency contact information, allergy lists, developmental observations, and other required documentation, ensuring the Director/Site Supervisor Teacher is informed of any updates.
Observe and assess children’s progress, interests, and developmental needs to support individualized learning experiences and ensure programs meet both individual and group needs.
Facilitate engaging, hands‑on learning experiences that encourage exploration, independence, concentration, and skill development across all areas of learning.
Maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive atmosphere through fair, consistent, and developmentally appropriate behaviour guidance practices.
Foster collaborative partnerships with families through ongoing communication, support, and resource sharing to promote children’s success and well‑being.
Previous Montessori classroom experience and/or Montessori training is considered a robust asset, with demonstrated understanding of child‑led learning, prepared environments, and fostering independence in young children.
Qualifications and Experience   Early Childhood Education Diploma (RECE) or provincially recognized equivalency.
Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in early childhood education or related field.
Montessori training, certification, or demonstrated experience in a Montessori classroom environment considered a strong asset.
Prior experience in private childcare is preferred.
Registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators required.
Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), How Does Learning Happen, and ELEC document considered an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and maintain open communication with colleagues, supervisors, and families.
Considerable proficiency in navigating a technologically rich school environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum.
Commitment to maintaining professional standards and ongoing professional development, including attending workshops, conferences, and in‑house training.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain calm and focused in high‑pressure situations.
Strong understanding of confidentiality protocols and ethical standards in childcare settings.
