24H3 – First Language Acquisition – Fall 2026. The course focuses on descriptions of children’s pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar at various stages of learning their first language, examining theories of linguistic knowledge and cognitive processes that underlie and develop along with language learning.

SalaryIn accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the stipend rate for a half course (Y, F or S), inclusive of vacation pay, is as follows:
- Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.47
- Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term: $10,699.21
- Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.21
- Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term: $10,953.96
- Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.95
- Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term: $11,228.90
- Ph.D. in Linguistics or a closely related discipline.
- Strong academic record and professional promise.
- Previous experience teaching language acquisition, psycholinguistics or a comparable course required.
Preference will be given to those with a background in First Language Acquisition.
DutiesAll normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
