The University of Guelph-Humber (Humber Polytechnic’s North Campus at 207 Humber College Blvd, Toronto, Ontario) is located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit.

Minimum Starting Salary:  $191,723; starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience.

About the Associate Vice-Provost (Academic) Role
Under the direction of the Vice‑Provost and Chief Academic Officer, the Associate Vice‑Provost (Academic) provides senior academic leadership in advancing the University of Guelph‑Humber’s academic vision, priorities, and long‑term strategy. The role is responsible for shaping a high‑quality, innovative, and sustainable academic ecosystem that responds to emerging educational trends, student needs, and the evolving postsecondary environment. This position plays a central role in ensuring academic excellence and continuous improvement across all academic programs.

The Associate Vice‑Provost (Academic) holds institution‑wide responsibility for the oversight of academic operations, ensuring coherence, quality, and alignment with the University’s academic vision and priorities. This includes leadership and accountability for academic planning, program delivery and review, instructional staffing, governance processes, and the effective integration of academic services that support student learning and success including the advancement of global learning, study abroad, and field study.

In partnership with academic leaders and stakeholders at the University of Guelph‑Humber, the University of Guelph, and Humber Polytechnic, the Associate Vice‑Provost (Academic) supports excellence in teaching, learning, research, and scholarly activity. The Associate Vice-Provost (Academic) collaboratively works with library services and student support partners to strengthen and align academic supports for student success. The role balances future‑focused academic strategy with effective operational leadership, including financial and resource stewardship, people leadership, and compliance with collective agreements and policies.

Through a collaborative and adaptive leadership, the Associate Vice‑Provost (Academic) fosters a collegial, inclusive academic culture that supports student success, faculty and staff engagement, and the University’s broader academic mission.

What you bring to the role
Education

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a doctoral degree.

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will bring 9–12 years of progressive experience in postsecondary education, including in academic and administrative roles. Required experience includes postsecondary teaching experience, an established record of scholarship and innovative academic practices, and a demonstrated knowledge of emerging trends, issues and best practices in the postsecondary sector.

The incumbent requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple concurrent initiatives, and balance competing priorities within a complex, multi‑partner academic environment. Strong interpersonal, team‑building, and conflict‑resolution skills are essential, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate institutional nuances while working effectively with stakeholders across the University of Guelph‑Humber, the University of Guelph and Humber Polytechnic.

The incumbent will demonstrate strong organizational and project‑management skills, along with digital fluency across academic systems and relevant platforms that support teaching, learning, and academic operations. The role also requires experience with budgeting and financial planning, including the ability to align academic priorities with resource allocation and to exercise sound financial judgment within a collaborative academic environment.
