Course description:
An examination of the acoustics and perception of human speech. We will explore how humans cope with the variation found in the auditory signal, how infants acquire their native language sound categories, the mechanisms underlying speech perception and how the brain encodes and represents speech sounds. An emphasis will be placed on hands‑on experience with experimental data analysis.

Minimum QualificationsPh.D. in Speech Language Pathology, Audiology, Neuroscience, Linguistics, Language Acquisition or closely related field. Familiarity with statistics or statistical concepts. Strong academic record and professional promise.
Preferred QualificationsTeaching experience in upper-level courses desired. Previous involvement with PLID
50H3 or a comparable course is preferred. Previous teaching experience is preferred over previous TA experience.
All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
