From the end of the medieval period to the Enlightenment, the global movement of people, things, technology, money, and ideology profoundly shaped how the world was perceived and represented. This course addresses exploration and networks of communication and trade between 1250 and 1800 to examine the emergence of world systems that connected and transformed artistic production. Focusing on regions of exchange and transmission (e.g., the Silk Road, the Islamic world, the Atlantic world), students study art, artifacts, monuments and primary documents through the lens of contemporary theories of globalization, colonialism, cultural hybridity, and recent art historical methodologies.

• Develop course outline and prepare studio materials.
• Deliver lectures, conduct critiques, and manage classroom activities.
• Grading, mid‑term, and final evaluations.
• Ensure health & safety compliance and meet academic & curricular deadlines.

• Terminal degree in art, design, or relevant discipline and/or equivalent professional/practical experience.
• Experience teaching at the post‑secondary level is an asset; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and experience promoting respectful, inclusive learning environments for students, staff, and faculty.

Sessional appointments are fixed‑term annual contracts. Compensation includes a per‑course pay scale of $7,508.00 (per 0.5 credit course) plus 7% in lieu of benefits and vacation pay, per the Employment Standards Act. Positions are subject to budgetary approval and satisfactory enrolment levels.
