Job Description

The Lycée Français de Toronto is an educational institution with 520 students from 30 nationalities, offering a French Ministry of Education curriculum up to the French Baccalaureate, with an American international option. It is part of a global network of more than 520 French schools affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad. The school prepares students for the French Baccalauréat and strives to empower a multilingual and diverse student body.

This position reports directly to the Primary School Vice‑Principal. The role involves regular contact with the entire school community, working in accordance with both French educational principles and Ontario regulations. The incumbent will support a kindergarten/elementary class and collaborate on school projects with teachers across the cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support for a kindergarten/elementary class.
  • Teach in accordance with the French program.
  • Provide pedagogical follow‑up for students.
  • Participate in educational meetings, including parent‑teacher meetings, teachers councils, cycle councils, and school councils.
  • Be involved in school projects, working in consultation with an English‑speaking colleague and the broader teaching teams on inter‑degree projects.
Candidate Profile
  • French Ministry Education diploma, Master 1 or Master 2, or experience as a teacher in the AEFE network.
  • Great adaptability and ability to work in a demanding multicultural environment.
  • Strong relational skills, both in the workplace and in the community, engaging parents in their child’s education.
  • Ability to develop educational projects or contribute to school projects.
  • Adaptation to bilingual classes with heterogeneous English‑speaking and French‑speaking students.
  • Strong knowledge and grasp of Google Suite, classroom software, and Smart Boards.
  • Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and administrators.
Working Conditions
  • Schedule:

    37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including 24 in‑class teaching hours.
  • Dynamic school environment with an open workspace.
  • Unionised position governed by the collective agreement of the Lycée Français de Toronto.
  • Salary based on experience and classification (certified / non‑certified): $48,425 - $94,411 CAD
    .
  • Non‑Canadian candidates must hold a work permit allowing them to teach.
