226H1F Caribbean Political Thought

Examines currents of Caribbean political thought from the Haitian Revolution to the present. Themes may include: struggles for independence and liberation, particularly the Haitian and Cuban Revolutions; theories of dependency;
Caribbean political systems; regional integration; contemporary political issues facing Caribbean societies today; analyses of capitalism by Caribbean thinkers.

Schedule: Mondays, 5pm - 7pm

Sessional dates: September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026

Minimum Qualifications :
Master and/or PhD in Politics, Sociology, or related field

Description of Duties :

• Develop a detailed syllabus and curriculum for the course
• Plan and delivering in-person lectures for individual and group assignments and assessments
• Design and invigilate assignments, tests and exams (if applicable)
• Hold office hours and meet with students as they request
• Manage course content and grades on Quercus, CIS and Emarks
• Handle other pedagogical and administrative tasks ordinarily associated with an undergraduate course
