Course Description
: A survey of the history of premodern Japan from earliest recorded histories to the establishment of the Tokugawa regime in the seventeenth century. Uses a wide range of translated primary Japanese texts to illuminate the emergence of cultural forms and their conjunction with social, economic, religious, and political trends.

Minimum qualifications
:
Completed MA in areas related to the course required or equivalent education combined with teaching experience; ability to clearly communicate information required; willingness to replicate the pedagogy and evaluation techniques employed in the regular teaching of this course required;

Preferred qualifications
:
Ph.D. in areas related to the course preferred; experience in language teaching at the university level preferred with evidence of superior teaching evaluations.

Description of duties
:
Preparing lesson plans and lectures; delivering lectures; developing and administering grading, course assignments, tests, and exams; providing scheduled office hours for academic counselling of students;
