Under the general direction of the Director, Student Development & Career Programming, the incumbent is responsible for the implementation and facilitation of preparatory programming for PEY Co-op students. The incumbent will support and advise students to develop key competencies and skills that will support their success in the recruitment process and the workplace.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising students on job search, industry research and networking strategies including cover letter, resume and interview preparation
  • Advising and coaching students on work search strategies and skills, interview skills and/or performance, developing career-related goals
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Advising students on career-related matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual’s background
  • Keeping well-informed on the various psychological, personal and informational factors involved in comprehensive career development approaches
  • Liaising with students and faculty to coordinate program activities
  • Keeping well-informed on labour market, occupational and educational trends
  • Analyzing statistical information to evaluate the performance of programs and/or partnerships

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years recent and relevant experience with student career advising and student career programming.
  • Experience developing relevant career education and employment-readiness programming in a curriculum-based experiential learning program.
  • Experience incorporating and teaching technology, social media, and online career-development tools in career education programming.
  • Experience facilitating and delivering engaging and dynamic workshops, presentations, and events to both large and small audiences, effectively capturing attention and sparking interest.
  • Experience in coaching individuals on resume writing and interview techniques.
  • Demonstrated excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple and competing tasks and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply good judgement, confidentiality, initiative, tact and discretion.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and high accuracy.
